The boardwalk extends along the Souris River from Third Street to the Soo Line Historical Museum. After the pavement is finished, lights will be installed and other landscaping lining the pathway will be completed.

The first part of the boardwalk passes in front of the Tommy Douglas statue, donated to the city by sculptor Lea Vivot.
