The Weyburn Salvation Army have received the results of a couple of campaigns, which are helping them to help those in need in the community.
The Weyburn Salvation Army have received the results of a couple of campaigns, which are helping them to help those in need in the community.
From the Back to School Supply Drive, the Salvation Army received a total of $1,626, and were able to help 36 students with their school supplies. This was the first year for this campaign to be held.
On Sept. 6, the Weyburn Independent Riders held their annual Toy Run, and were able to fill their cargo van with new toys.
In addition, they received a total of $1,085 in donations from groups and individuals who donated to the Salvation Army, towards their Christmas hamper program.
Over the weekend, Canada Post employees held their annual "Stamp Out Hunger" to help replenish the stocks of the food bank. Several car and truckloads of food donations were brought in on Saturday.
Residents were reminded that out-dated food items cannot be given out. The food bank accepts pasta, macaroni and cheese, canned meat, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, hamburger helper, stove-pot stuffing, and so on.
