SARCAN slated to reopen to the public on June 15

SARCAN recycling has announced it will be open to the public again on June 15.

SARCAN recycling has announced it will be open to the public again on June 15.

The agency, which operates numerous recycling depots in the province, including Estevan, was included in Phase 3 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan, which takes effect June 8.

Beginning that day, commercial and bulk customers will be able to bring in their recycling by appointment only.

“There is nothing more important to us than the health and safety of our team of over 700 dedicated recyclers, our customers and our partners,” SARCAN said in a message on its website. “As we reopen our recycling services to the public, we are putting additional safety measures in place at all SARCAN locations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“SARCAN Recycling has been working in consultation with provincial health authorities to determine the appropriate measures to put in place to make our facilities as safe for you to visit as possible. We are committed to continually assessing and implementing new safety measures as needed.”

SARCAN’s website also includes information on physical distancing, visiting SARCAN during COVID-19 and safety of clients and workers.

They remind people that because they have been closed to the public for two months, they expect to be very busy upon reopening. SARCAN also promoted the use of their drop and go service.

And they’re asking people to follow physical distancing requirements, which means there will be a limit on the number of customers in their depots based on the size of the depot, the number of chutes at the depot and the number of employees on duty.
