There are 18 new cases of COVID-19 to report in the South East region on May 21, including 10 new cases in South East Zone 4, which includes Estevan.
Zone 4 now has 104 active cases.
There are two new cases in South East Zone 3, which includes Weyburn; four new cases in South East 2, which is north of Zone 4, and two new cases in Zone East 1, which is northwest of Zone 4.
There were 173 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on May 21, bringing the provincial total to 45,310 cases.
Two new deaths are reported today. One death was reported in the 70-79 age group from the Far North East zone and one death was in the 80+ age group from the North West zone. A total of 524 people with COVID-19 have died in Saskatchewan.
The other new cases for Saskatchewan are located in the following zones: Far North West, 4; Far North East, 2; North West, 24; North Central, 13; North East, 1; Saskatoon, 34; Central West, 6; Central East, 25; Regina, 30; South West, 3; and South Central, 6. Seven cases have pending residence information.
Another 189 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 43,010. Seven of the new recoveries are from the South East, with none in Zone 4.
A total of 1,776 cases are considered active, including 157 from the South East.
There are 132 people in hospital, including five from the South East, up two from May 20. A total of 107 people are receiving inpatient care, and 25 are in intensive care.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 162.
There were 3,331 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 20, including 232 from the South East.
An additional 10,347 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 630,583. The South East accounted for 448 of those cases.
Seventy-five per cent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Sixty-nine per cent of those 30+ have received their first dose. Sixty-one per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose.
