Sask. COVID-19 update: three more deaths; no new cases in the southeast region

Three residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. All three deaths were in the 80-plus age group. One in the northwest zone and two are in the Regina zone.

There are 181 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Dec. 22, bringing the provincial total to date to 13,942 cases. None of the new cases are in the southeast region.

(Updated information on the number of active cases and other details for each zone in the southeast was not immediately available).

The new cases are located in the Far North West (eight), Far North Central (two), Far North East (14), North West (35), North Central (36), North East (three), Saskatoon (35), Central West (one), Central East (three), Regina (43) and South West (one) zones.

Of the cases, 3,945 out of the 13,942 are considered active. Another 223 people have recovered, lifting the total number of recoveries to 9,872.

One hundred and twenty-four people are in hospital.  One hundred and three people are receiving inpatient care: two in the Far North West, five in the North West, 17 in the North Central, two in the North East, 43 in the Saskatoon, one in the Central West, five in the Central East, 22 in the Regina and six in the South East zones. 

Twenty-one people are in intensive care: one in the North West, seven in the North Central, eight in the Saskatoon, three in the Regina and two in the South West zones.

A total of 125 people with COVID-19 have died in Saskatchewan since mid-March.

The total vaccinations completed to December 21 is 1,519. These are part of the Regina pilot vaccination phase.

A total of 2,172 COVID-19 tests were processed in Saskatchewan on Monday.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 217 (17.9 new cases per 100,000 population).
