A fourth year SaskPower power line technician apprentice does a practice problem high above the ground on a power pole on Ninth Street, Weyburn, on Tuesday afternoon. According to Doug Boehm, the instructor that accompanied the apprentice along with a group of about a dozen others, the apprentices are nearing the end of their training and will soon be undertaking their final examinations: a series of hands on problems that apprentices must complete perfectly in order to receive a full marks, similar to "getting all of the marbles or zero marbles." The passing score for the final exam is 80 per cent. Weyburn is the provincial training hub for all power line technicians.
