REGINA — Regina police have laid charges against a second teen suspect in relation to a homicide in November that left a teenage girl deceased outside a south Regina home.
A 16-year-old girl was shot outside of a residence in the 1200 block of Rae Street on Nov. 1 at approximately 2 a.m.. She was declared deceased upon the arrival of police and emergency services, who were dispatched for a call about a weapons offense.
Police declared the incident was a homicide the following day. A 15-year-old male youth was later arrested on Nov. 15 and charged with second degree murder in relation to the investigation.
After continued investigation, police have now identified and charged a second suspect in the homicide.
A 16-year-old male youth was arrested on March 29 and is also facing a charge of second degree murder.
The accused teen made his first appearance in youth court on Wednesday afternoon.
Due to the ages of the accused and the victim, police have not made names available in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
