The Communithon Committee is currently meeting every week throughout September and October. Shelley Van de Sype, Ruth Barker, George Barker, Sandy Alexander, Angela Hewitt, Marissa McCallum and Tasha Collins have been working together to continue planning and refining the details. Many people and many hours of work go into the Communithon. Representatives from the Weyburn & District United Way board and 12 Member Agencies work together on the committees along with volunteers from the community. About 18 committees plan for the production, staging, decorating, canteen, food services, telephone answerers, announcers, entertainment, finance, ceremonies, setup and clean up of facilities, security, silent auction, draws, advertising, agency displays and special events. Communithon 2012 goal is $131,000. The event will be broadcast on ACCESS Communications Channel 7 from 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26th to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday the 27th. The public is invited to come to the Weyburn Comprehensive cafeteria anytime during these hours.
