The Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association decided to postpone their 107th Annual General Meeting and Convention.
The AGM was scheduled to be held June 7-9 in Assiniboia. However, the SSGA said a meeting at that time was not possible because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As the response to COVID-19 continues to evolve, we’re hoping that life will return to some degree of normalcy by the fall,” said SSGA president Bill Huber.
Normally, the AGM is the SSGA’s annual opportunity to conduct association business, pass resolutions advocating for producers’ interests and learn from expert guest speakers. The organization will be looking at a later date or an alternate format for the meeting.
“Our members really look forward to our AGM and convention and we could have held off to see if the situation started to change,” Huber said. “But people have to make plans, so the best thing to do was to make a decision based on what we know now. “We need to keep everyone’s health in mind. We will continue to monitor the situation and evaluate whether it is safe to host the AGM in the fall,” Huber continued.
The SSGA is also exploring the option of hosting a virtual conference.
“The business of the SSGA goes on and we need to get our members’ input one way or another,” Huber stated in conclusion. “We’ll keep an eye on things and do what’s best for our members.”
