When the Sun Country board of directors met on May 25, they received a comprehensive list of maintenance items for regional health-care facilities that had been addressed during the past two months.
The board learned that a roof repair or replacement assessment at the Lampman Health Centre had been completed and the detailed design was expected by today (June 3) with the call for tenders to take place later this month with the job to be completed this summer. That facility is also undergoing some landscaping upgrades that will include a sprinkler system and grass seeding.
A repair to the roof at the Estevan Regional Nursing Home was also under assessment with a construction quote forthcoming.
Another roof repair at the Midale Mainprize Health Centre has advanced to the price quote stage with the most recent quote being updated.
The New Hope Pioneer Lodge in Stoughton is also in need of roof repairs and the board members were told a quote was also forthcoming with the contractor having visited the site in early May. The facility also requires new windows which will be installed on July 11.
Moose Mountain Lodge in Carlyle is in need of new windows with installation of those planned for June 20.
The Arcola Health Centre is also in need of new windows. Sun Country’s CEO Marga Cugnet reported the quote for the windows was two times more than the capital funding allocated to the project but the recommendation was to complete the installation of all windows. Due to deterioration of the windows, the project was escalated in scope to include all of them, not just some windows, as originally anticipated.
A new fire sprinkler project is underway in the Carnduff facility.
The maintenance report contained the news that during the month of April all personnel had been able to perform their duties with no injuries being recorded.
