There are 129 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Nov. 5, bringing the provincial total to date to 3,536 cases. The total is a single-day record for the province.
There is just one new case from the southeast region. That case was diagnosed in Southeast Zone 1, which is the northwest corner of the zone.
One person from the southeast has recovered. That recovery is in Zone 4, which includes Estevan. There are 25 active cases of COVID-19 in the southeast; 18 are in Zone 4.
There have been 60 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in this region since mid-March.
Fifty-five cases are in the Saskatoon region, 30 are in the north central, 13 are in the Regina region and 10 are in the northwest. As for the rest of the province, six cases are from the far northwest, four are from the central east, two are from the south central, and single cases are from the far northeast, central west and southwest regions.
Location information is pending for five new cases.
One case with pending residence location from Tuesday was determined to be an out-of-province resident and has been removed from the Saskatchewan count.
The Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory experienced technical difficulties Tuesday with the validation of COVID-19 tests, resulting in lower than expected case numbers reported Wednesday.
Following the validation of these samples, nine positive results were identified. Due to the timing of the reporting of laboratory results, these nine cases will be counted in November 6 case numbers.
Of the 3,536 reported cases, 877, or 24.8 per cent, are considered active.
Fifty more people have recovered, bringing the Saskatchewan total to 2,634 recoveries, or about 75 per cent of those diagnosed.
Thirty-two people are in hospital. Twenty-seven people are receiving inpatient care: 10 in Saskatoon, eight in the north central, five in Regina, three in the northwest and one in the far northwest. Five people are in intensive care: three in Saskatoon, one in the north central and one in Regina.
Twenty-five deaths have occurred due to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan since mid-March.
A total of 2,322 COVID-19 tests were processed in Saskatchewan on Wednesday.
