There has been a significant drop in the number of active COVID-19 cases in South East Zone 4, which includes Estevan, according to the daily figures supplied by the Saskatchewan Health Authority on Aug. 15 on the COVID-19 dashboard.
There were 59 active cases in Zone 4, down from 68 on Aug. 14. While there are four new cases to report in Zone 4, there were also 13 recoveries.
It represents the first batch of new recoveries stemming from a recent surge in cases due to a private gathering. The first cases from that gathering were reported on Aug. 5.
As for the rest of the South East, there are three new cases in South East Zone 2, which is north of Zone 4, and one new case in Zone 1, to the northwest of Zone 4.
There are now 98 active cases in the South East region. Two people are in hospital in the South East; both are receiving inpatient care. And another 16 people in the South East have recovered.
A total of 106 COVID-19 tests were processed in the South East on Aug. 14.
And another 194 doses of vaccine have been administered, bringing the total number of doses to 97,632. A total of 45,980 people in the South East are now fully vaccinated.
