The Soo Line Historical Museum is still selling tickets for their annual Gala on Friday, Oct. 18 and Joan Gregory, museum manager, said ticket sales are slow.
"I think they're slower this year than last year," she said and highlighted the important of this fundraiser for the museum. It is one of their top two fundraisers which ensures that the museum's doors are able to stay open.
"The main thing is to keep history alive in Weyburn," said Gregory. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or Superior Office Products for $50. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and musical entertainment.
New at the museum is an interactive exhibit which utilizes iPads and info-graphics to teach visitors about environmental sustainability through the eyes of Juno-award winning artists. The exhibit was created by Mike Benoit, a Royal Saskatchewan Museum exhibit designer, in conjunction with the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. It will be in Weyburn until June.
Gregory also said the Cookie Factory is coming up in November. The Cookie Factory is another museum fundraiser and it will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum on Saturday, Nov. 30.
