The City of Weyburn 2013 Clean up committee began its latest campaign with a first meeting on February 12. This year's theme will be 'Centennial Clean Up'. Advertising for this campaign will begin in spring.
In place of recruiting area chairpersons for residential judging, the committee has suggested a 'Nominate your Neighbour' challenge. The form will likely be sent out with the landfill coupons in May. This challenge is for residents of Weyburn to nominate a deserving neighbour, who will be recognized for their nice-looking yards.
The poster contest will keep with the Centennial Clean Up campaign and will be '100 Different Ways to Keep Your City Clean'. In addition to the elementary schools, other groups will be invited to participate in the contest, including day care centres, play schools and youth-oriented organizations.
The committee discussed the potential for including more minor sports groups, such as football and soccer, getting involved in a Clean Up challenge.
The next meeting will be held May 8.
