Traffic blitz in Estevan Wednesday and Thursday

The Estevan Police Service has announced it is hosting a roadside checkstop today and tomorrow as part of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.


The Estevan Police Service has announced it is hosting a roadside checkstop today and tomorrow as part of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.

The teams are made up of law enforcement personnel from all agencies in the province that have a focus on road safety. The focus of the blitz is seat belt and cell phone violations.

The EPS officers and the other police agencies will be holding safety check stops in and around Kensington Avenue, 13th Avenue, Fourth Street and 13th Avenue from 1 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Thursday.

In a press release, the EPS says it is pleased to be hosting the STEP teams in the city. Along with the local officers, the RCMP, Moose Jaw, Regina and Saskatoon Municipal Police Services, CP Police, Provincial Highway Transport Patrol will take part in the blitz.

STEP is a partnership between SGI and provincial police agencies.
