A two-day traffic blitz was conducted concentrating on motorists not using their seatbelts or communicating on their cell phones while driving. Twelve tickets were issued for not wearing seatbelts and 11 tickets were issued for people using their cell phones while driving.
Residents are reminded that Police Service members will be conducting high profile road side checks during the month of December. With the holiday season here once again please do not drink then drive. Arrange for alternate transportation or plan for a non drinking designated driver.
The weather during the first week turned to winter conditions. The recent snow and cold temperatures turned road surfaces extremely icy. Several motor vehicle accidents were reported and investigated. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and equip their vehicles with proper tires for winter driving.
A theft of four pairs of bowling shoes from the bowling alley was reported on Nov. 13. They are multi-coloured and all about size 10.
A noisy party disturbance was attended to in the Weyburn trailer court on Nov. 13. Several guests refused to leave a residence after the owner asked them to leave. The matter was resolved without charges.
A GPS unit was stolen out of a truck parked on Elm Crescent. The matter is still being investigated.
A fox thought to be rabid was reported being seen by the City landfill on Nov. 14. The animal disappeared and hasn't been seen again. Residents are advised to use caution when these animals are seen in the city. Several reports have been received this fall of coyotes and foxes being seen in the city.
A resident received a phone call on Nov. 14 stating her credit card had been compromised in Guatemala. The call was from a computer play dial. The call was terminated before personal information was given.
An erratic driver was reported on Highfield Crescent on Nov. 15. Extra patrols will be made in the area.
A noise complaint inside an apartment building located on the 700 block of Fifth Street was attended to by police on Nov. 16. The matter was resolved without charges.
Police attended the King George Hotel on Nov. 17. Customers were reported to be consuming alcohol on the parking lot.
Weyburn Co-op Foods reported a shoplifter on Nov. 17. The matter is still under investigation.
A domestic disturbance between family members was attended to on Clark Avenue on Nov. 17. Police kept the peace while some members packed belongings to relocate.
An observant resident reported an intoxicated man laying in the snow on Second Street on Nov. 18.
Police attended a residence on Wiebe Crescent when an intoxicated young man entered the home and then passed out inside on Nov. 18.
Police were called to a motor vehicle accident on Nov. 22; a vehicle that stopped for a red light at an intersection was damaged when a second vehicle ran into the back of it. The matter is under investigation.
Police were called on Nov. 23 to assist EMS with a male who had taken too many pills; he was transported to the hospital.
Police were called the same day to complaints regarding fights at a local bar. Two males were arrested for outstanding warrants.
