A traffic stop on Aug. 18 on Highway 18 west of Estevan resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old man.
Estevan Police Service performed the traffic stop and discovered a loaded restricted handgun in the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle, a 28-year-old male, was arrested and charged with transporting a restricted firearm in a careless manner, driving while suspended and operating an unregistered vehicle. He was released on conditions and is set to appear in Estevan provincial court on Oct. 19, 2015.
According to police, no locking device was present on the handgun at the time of discovery.
