The weekly report for COVID-19 cases among Saskatchewan’s children and youth has been released.

The report shows that two young people in the southeast region tested positive for COVID-19. One of them is in Zone 4, which includes Estevan, and the other was in Zone 1, which is the northwest area of the zone.

Young people account for two of the five active cases in the southeast region.

There were 64 tests performed among young people in Zone 4 for the week of Sept. 14-20. A total of 106 cases have been performed in this zone since Sept. 7; 262 have been performed in the southeast region since Sept. 7.

The report does not specify where the positive tests occurred, whether they were in a school or at a community testing site.

For the entire province, there are 24 active cases among children and youth. A total of 4,016 tests were administered from Sept. 14-20, and 6,106 have been performed since Sept. 7.

Weekly reports are released on Thursdays.

The Ministries of Health and Education are working closely with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and school divisions to monitor COVID-19 developments within schools and local communities. Parents will be advised if a COVID-19 related risk is identified.

COVID-19 activity in schools will usually reflect the background-level of COVID-19 in communities, so it is important to pay close attention to local COVID-19 activity.
