The Estevan RCMP and Crime Stoppers are looking for the public’s help with a couple of recent crimes.
The first occurred in Lampman. Four to six spools of electrical cable were stolen from a business on the town’s Main Street during the night of Oct. 4 or the early morning hours of Oct. 5.
The other crime occurred at Trent’s Tire on the western outskirts of Estevan. At approximately 12:45 a.m. on the night of Oct. 8, two masked individuals threw a rock through the glass entry doors, and made their way into the showroom, where they searched for cash and valuables.
They triggered an intrusion alarm upon entering the premises, but made their escape before police arrived.
The two intruders were captured on surveillance video and are believed to be well-known to police.
The RCMP is reminding local businesses and individuals that with the recent downturn in the economy, break-and-enters and property theft crimes are becoming more common. As a result, the RCMP suggests that people make sure their property and premises are properly secured and protected.
Alarm systems and surveillance cameras are top options for increasing security at both commercial locations and residences.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents, or any other crime, is asked to contact the Estevan RCMP at 306-637-4400, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
