There are 58 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Oct. 27, bringing the total to 2,841 cases.
Two of the cases are in the southeast. Both cases are in Southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan.
There are 26 active cases in the southeast; 22 of them are in Zone 4.
As for the rest of the province, there are 29 cases in the Saskatoon region, eight in the northwest, six in the north central, five in the Regina area, three in the central east, two in the northeast, and single cases in the far northwest and far northeast.
One case is pending location.
Public health investigations are underway to determine the source of transmission for all new cases.
Of the 2,841 reported cases, 652, or about 23 per cent, are considered active.
Fifty-six more people are listed as recovered, bringing the Saskatchewan total to 2,164 recoveries, or 76.2 per cent of those diagnosed.
Twenty-four people are in hospital. Eighteen people are receiving inpatient care: nine in the Saskatoon zone, seven in the north and two in the Regina zone. Six people are in intensive care: four in Saskatoon, one in Regina and one in the north central.
There have been 489 cases from the south area (228 southwest, 211 south central and 50 southeast). As for the rest of the province, 665 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 537 cases are from the north area (175 northwest, 249 north central, 113 northeast), 436 cases are from the far north area (382 far northwest, 54 far northeast), 369 cases from the central area (196 central west, 173 central east), and 342 cases are from the Regina area.
Three cases have pending residence location.
Of the 2,841 cases in the province, 351 cases are travellers, 1,392 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 730 have no known exposures and 368 are under investigation by local public health.
Eighty-seven cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.
A total of 561 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 1,016 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 804 are in the 40-59 age range, 380 are in the 60-79 age range and 80 are in the 80-plus range.
Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.
Twenty-five deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.
To date, 253,675 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Oct. 25, when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 171,014 people tested per million population. The national rate was 256,746 people tested per million population.
There were 3,434 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan on Monday. This is the highest daily number of tests performed to date. The previous high was 3,049 tests performed on Oct. 11.
