On October 4, the Weyburn Police Service conducted a vehicle stop and found the driver, a 57 year-old male had outstanding warrants for his arrest from Estevan. The male was transported to cells where he was later released for court in November in Estevan.
Also on October 4, the WPS attended to an accident on Highway 39 near the Third Street intersection. A semi tractor pulling a flat deck with steel plating, which may have been improperly loaded, broke. Police directed traffic while the load was transferred to another unit. No injuries occurred and no charges will be laid.
On October 3, the Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of a theft from a vehicle. The complainant had parked his work truck near a local hotel and overnight the tailgate of his white 2012 F250 Ford truck had been removed. The incident remains under investigation.
On October 2, the WPS received a complaint of an accident at the intersection of Highway 39 and Third Street. The accident occurred after an I-Beam fell out of the back of a truck and another vehicle hit the debris on the road. The accident resulted in minor injuries to the other driver. The subsequent investigation located the driver of the truck and the 23 year old-male driver was charged with driving a vehicle with an insecure load.
On September 30, police received a tip that a male who was a suspect in a string of recent indecent acts was seen in the area of Walmart. Members of the Weyburn Police Service attended and located the suspect and after a brief struggle, the 49 year-old male was arrested and transported to cells. The suspect was charged with three counts of indecent acts and held for court on October 2. He was subsequently remanded in custody and will appear in court later this month.
On September 29, members of the WPS responded to a downtown business after an altercation between a customer and a store employee. Police arrested a 46 year-old male and charged him with assault and uttering threats. The male was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
On September 28, police responded to the King George Hotel after receiving reports of an intoxicated male in the parking lot. Police located a 24 year-old male who was arrested for being intoxicated in public. He was lodged in cells for his safety and released the following morning when sober.
Also on September 28, the Weyburn Police Service received a report of a theft of an iPhone from Tim Horton's after the victim had set it down and left it unattended. A suspect, described as a male, black, medium build, short black hair, wearing a white t-shirt and stripped shirt, was observed leaving shortly after. Police are asking for public assistance in identifying this individual. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
