Watch for broken power lines

With winter weather now upon us, SaskPower has issued some advisory notes to help consumers deal with the strong winds, freezing rains, snowfalls and the ensuing challenges they all pose.

Severe winter weather means an increased chance of unplanned power outages.

The company notes that ice accumulating on the lines also makes them sag lower and sometimes brings them together and on occasion, they break.

“Be on the lookout for sagging lines and especially for any downed lines. Stay at least 10 metres away and call it in at 310-2220, so SaskPower can dispatch a crew to make it safe,” said Jonathan Tremblay, a spokesman for SaskPower.

Safety and outage information is also available at SaskPower.com
