Wise use of our water is essential to our health, our economy and to Saskatchewan's future growth.
The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority is signing a promotional partnership agreement with the United States Environmental Protection Agency to use the WaterSense label.
"The WaterSense labeling system will be a benefit to Saskatchewan consumers, who will be able to identify and purchase more water efficient products," Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority Dustin Duncan said. "It will also assist Saskatchewan manufacturers who are interested in having their water saving product certified under WaterSense."
"In 2009, the Premiers from across Canada signed a Water Charter that committed to various steps to ensure good management of water, including water conservation steps," Duncan said. "This partnership with WaterSense is another step in our efforts to use water wisely and ensure a sustainable water supply to support the province's growing population and economy."
The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority also continues to deliver the highly successful Provincial Toilet Replacement Rebate Program through the Go Green Saskatchewan Fund. To date, about 45,000 toilets have been replaced in Saskatchewan, saving more than two billion litres of water and reducing CO2 emissions by about 7,000 tonnes. This program is scheduled to end in December 2012.
