Recently, an anonymous donor had given $420,000 to the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation. The anonymous person supports the foundation in their vision of building and equipping a new hospital to serve Weyburn and the surrounding communities.
"We are certainly seeing new doctors being attracted to our community so let's get behind the Foundation and raise the funds needed from the community to show the government we are ready," said Adam Knight, chair of the WDHF.
The foundation was incorporated since 2009 and has raised, in cash and pledges, identified funds to date of $15.5 million towards the goal of $20 million.
The other 80 per cent of funds for a new hospital has to be committed by the province.
The WDHF has funds donated previous to 2009 ($665,000) that are invested and being held in trust by Sun Country Health Region for the new hospital.
