Police responded to an accident at the intersection of Fourth Street and Bison Avenue on Sunday. A west-bound vehicle on Bison Avenue driven by a 67 year old male failed to yield to a south bound on 4th Street and they collided in the intersection. The driver of the south bound vehicle (a 63 year old male) was treated by Weyburn EMS and he was driven to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
Police received a complaint from a 39-year-old female that had been in an accident on Friday, the man left the scene after providing his name and license plate number. She believed that he may have been impaired. Officers located the 51-year-old male suspect and arrested him on an outstanding warrant. It was determined that he had registered his vehicle following the accident. He was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle and driving without a valid driver’s license.
Weyburn police assisted the RCMP with a traffic stop on the New City Garden Road on Sunday. The vehicle had been travelling west on Highway 39 and a complaint was received that the man and woman inside were having a physical altercation. The incident was turned over to the RCMP.
Police responded to an accident at the intersection of 18th Street and Fifth Avenue NE on Oct. 13. As an officer approached, the vehicle started to drive away and was stopped by the officer.
A 40-year-old female was driving; she was arrested after failing a roadside screening test. She was charged with impaired driving, driving while over .08 and given a ticket for driving without a license. An investigation into the accident determined that a 38-year-old male had been driving when the accident occurred. He was also arrested and subsequently charged with impaired driving and driving while over .08.
Police, Fire and EMS personnel responded to a fire at Bison Manor on Oct. 14. A resident accidentally started a small cooking fire, it was extinguished. The resident had fallen and suffered from smoke inhalation.
Police received a complaint about a gas drive-off from a local gas station on Oct. 14. The vehicle was located and a 45-year-old female returned to the station to pay for the gas.
A 65-year-old woman’s vehicle was damaged when a bale of wire fell out of a truck and hit her vehicle on Oct. 14. The driver of the truck, a 23-year-old male told her that he would cover her damage and they exchanged information. She felt that she should report the incident. An officer located the offending vehicle and found that the vehicle was unregistered. The male was charged for having an insecure load and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
An officer did a traffic stop on Highway 39 on Oct. 14. The driver had the smell of beverage alcohol on his breath and was read an Alcotest demand. He blew under .08 and was issued a three-day driving suspension.
A vehicle was broken into at a local school on Oct. 14. Someone had gone through the contents of a student’s wallet. Nothing else was disturbed in the vehicle and police are investigating.
Police received a complaint of a theft of a cell phone from a local motel on Oct. 15. Officers responded to the motel and spoke to the 36-year-old female victim. Two female suspects were arrested and transported to the Weyburn police station. An 18-year-old female was charged for theft under $5,000, the other was released with no charges.
The victim of an assault, a 52-year-old female attended the police station on Friday and provided a witness statement. She had been living with a 42-year-old male.
He had assaulted her numerous times in an early morning domestic by punching, kicking and throwing her around. The male will be charged with assault and placed on no-contact conditions with the female and her children.
