Athletics is in full swing at WCS with the boys' volleyball team hosting a tournament September 5 and 6. The football team was in Swift Current on September 6 and will travel to Estevan on September 13. Their first home game is September 20 against Moose Jaw Central. The girls' soccer team played two league games at home on September 6 and will travel to Moose Jaw on September 13 for more league games in the Moose Jaw High School Soccer League. Golfers are tuning up for the district golf tournament to be held on September 15 at Kenosee. Finalists there will advance to the SHSAA Provincial Championship in Nipawin the last weekend in September. On September 16 the girls' soccer team will host Moose Jaw Central at 4:30 p.m. at Jubilee Park. The senior girls' volleyball team is off to Brandon for a tournament and the junior girls' team will attend a tournament in Arcola this weekend.

Cross-country and boys' soccer are trying to get underway but the boys' soccer team is actually short of players. Anyone interested please come out.

The school is seeking students (and maybe even community members) that are interested in working with the technical side of the new Cugnet Centre. We have very new sound and lighting equipment and there would be a learning curve so anyone who is interested can contact Bob King at 306-842-7494 (Ext. 5).

As the Cugnet Centre is also the high school gymnasium, until the old one is refurbished, the facility is quickly being booked up with school activities, along with a few community events like the Weyburn Concert Series.
