Weyburn MMA ‘Girls Fight Back’ program filled up

A self-defence course for girls will be held at the Weyburn MMA gym on Sunday, March 1 from 1-3 p.m., a joint presentation of Weyburn MMA Club and the YF Wives.

A self-defence course for girls will be held at the Weyburn MMA gym on Sunday, March 1 from 1-3 p.m., a joint presentation of Weyburn MMA Club and the YF Wives. The program has now been completely filled up, but organizers are taking names for a wait list in case anyone cancels out.

The course will be offered to young women aged 14 and up, and they will learn about self-defence and kick-boxing.

The day-long session will be led by Dean Hodgkin, head coach for Weyburn MMA, with the first half dedicated to kick-boxing, and the second half to self-defence techniques.

“It will be a fun, light workout with other women while learning important techniques,” said Dallen Hodgkin.

The cost is $20 per person, and registrations need to be in by Sunday, Feb. 23. Participants who are under 18 will need to sign a waiver to take part.
