Police attended to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 39 and Government Road; a driver was charged with failing to yield when making a left turn, the other vehicle had to be towed due to damage.
Police attended to a collision involving a single vehicle and a light standard on Sept. 21. The driver of the vehicle was found to be impaired and was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
Assistance was requested by Weyburn Police Service in locating a minor who had left her guardian's residence; the youth was later located and safely returned home.
In the early hours of Sept. 19, a truck was reported to be stolen. The truck was parked on the street in front of the registered owner's home, and the truck was later located at another location with no damage. The public is reminded to protect their property by ensuring doors are locked when their vehicle is unattended.
A local business reported two males had attended their business selling what was believed to be stolen property, this matter remains under investigation.
A young male attended Weyburn Police Service to make a complaint of an assault that had occurred outside his place of employment; the incident remains under investigation.
On the afternoon of Sept. 22, members attended a local business whose window had been broken sometime in the evening; this matter is currently under police investigation.
Police also received a report on the 21st of a local man who had gone missing from his home in Weyburn; during the police investigation the man was located and determined to be safe, and the family was informed of his whereabouts.
Police were asked to attend a local place of business, as there was an intoxicated male disturbing other patrons; an adult male was later lodged in cells and charged with being drunk in public.
While on patrol during the early hours of Sept. 22, an on-duty officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Upon a roadside stop, the adult male driver was found to be impaired, and the individual was later charged with .08 and impaired operation of a motor vehicle; he will be making his first court appearance next month.
Police assistance was also requested at a private residence to assist with a small fire outside of entrance to the home.
Over the two-week period of Sept. 9-22, Weyburn Police also responded to several alarm calls at both residential properties as well as businesses.
Weyburn Police Service responded to 94 incidents during the week of Sept. 9-15. On Sept. 12, police assistance was requested at a local school to help remove a youth who had been asked to leave and would not cooperate. The male youth left the premises without incident after police arrival.
On Sept. 13, a motorist was observed by police to be swerving all over the road; the driver was later charged with impaired operation of vehicle, and the vehicle was also towed to a local compound.
A local business owner reported that an employee's credit card had been stolen by a fellow employee; the on-duty officer spoke with the suspect and was able to retrieve the credit card from suspect as well as the money owed.
A member of the Weyburn Police Service was given information regarding individuals who were believed to be smoking marijuana in a public place.Police attended, the matter was mediated informally as there was insufficient evidence to proceed with charges.
An adult male was lodged in cells for being in breach of conditions on Sept. 14; the individual was released the following morning with a court date set for Sept. 25; he was also issued a ticket for being drunk in public.
An employee from a local business made a report of an unattended vehicle parked in front of the building that had the front window damaged. The registered owner of that vehicle later attended the office to provide a statement; there are no suspects at this time, and this incident remains under investigation.
Officers also attended a motor vehicle accident where a truck collided with a power pole in a parking lot of a downtown business on Sept. 14. Police also attended a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Government Road and Souris Avenue; one of the vehicles needed to be towed away from the scene, and the driver of that vehicle was later issued a ticket for disobeying a red light.
A report was made of fireworks being set off within city limits; police attended and a $150 ticket was issued under the city bylaw.
City police received a complaint on Sept. 15 of a vehicle parked with two individuals in it who appeared to be sleeping. Officers attended and found one of the individuals had a warrant with Weyburn Police Service and was a suspended driver. After attending WPS to deal with the outstanding warrant, a ticket was issued for driving while disqualified .
