Police received a complaint on July 2 that a 2008 Ford F 250 was stolen overnight from the NE area of Weyburn. The stolen vehicle was located later that day by police. The matter remains under investigation.
Police were called to a report of individuals on the roof of a business on Railway Avenue on July 2 and they appeared to be causing damage. Police attended and located two female youths on the roof. One female fled the scene as police were arriving on scene while the other remained stuck on the roof. The remaining female was arrested and charged with mischief, resisting arrest and breach of probation. The accused, a young offender made her first court appearance on July 3.
A complaint was received from a local bar of a male causing a disturbance early on July 1. Police attended and located the 32-year-old male, who was subsequently arrested and charged with obstructing a police officer. He will be making his first court appearance on Aug. 7.
Police observed two youths walking down a residential street smoking a marijuana cigarette and stopped them on July 4. The subsequent investigation resulted in more marijuana being found on one of the youths. The male young offender was charged with possession of cannabis and appeared in court on July 4.
Police were called to a local bar early on July 5 in regard to a disturbance and fight in the parking lot. The individuals involved were not cooperative with police but one of the involved individuals was given a ride home so that further problems would be avoided.
While the police bike patrol was conducting a patrol of the Jubilee Park on July 7 they located a large group of about 30 youth. One individual was charged with open liquor in public and the group was dispersed with no further incidents.
Police received a complaint of a theft from a motor vehicle on July 7, which had been parked in the NE area of the City. Stolen from the back of a truck was an eight-inch Powerbuilt gas posthole auger, red in color. There are no suspects at this time and the matter remains under investigation.
Police received a complaint of stolen property on June 25. Someone entered a yard in the 200 block of Water Street and stole a bicycle. The bike is black in color, mountain style and is built for an adult male. To this date bike has not been located.
On June 25 police attended a motor vehicle accident involving a city vehicle at the intersection of 10th Street and Coteau Ave. At about 8 a.m. a city dump truck was struck by a private vehicle. There were no injuries Investigation is ongoing.
On June 28 at 5:05 p.m., police attended to an accident at the intersection of Coteau Avenue and Government Road. A truck traveling north on Government Road was signalling to turn right onto Coteau Avenue, when a motorcycle being driven by a 44-year-old male behind the truck pulled to the left to go around the truck. A 37-year-old woman driving a SUV attempted to turn left from Coteau onto Government Road and head south and struck the motorcycle. The motorcycle driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
A person contacted police reporting that someone had gone through her vehicle during the early morning hours of June 25. The vehicle was parked in the 500 block of Elizabeth St. At this time police have no suspects, but investigation is on going.
A van in the 100 block of Ash Drive was broken into during the early morning hours of June 25. Some of the property taken from the vehicle was located in a nearby yard. Investigation is ongoing.
Police are investigating a case where a person out walking his dog between 16th St. and 18th St. on Fifth Ave. North and had his dog attacked by another dog on June 26. The dog required attention by a vet. Police are still looking for the suspect dog and its owner. The dog is described as a shepherd mix and black and brown in color. The owner was a male in his 50's and heavier set. Dog owners are reminded that when they are walking their dogs, they must be on a leash.
On June 26 employees from a business in the 10 block of Sims Ave. reported damage to their building by a truck with a high metal rack in the back, damaging the building while going through the drive-through. Employees were unable to get a license plate. Vehicle was described as red regular cab truck with a big metal rack in the back.
Two youths were attending the Weyburn Leisure Centre on June 26. When they went to go home at 7 p.m., they found their bikes had been stolen. Investigation is ongoing.
A complaint was received on June 25, that a vehicle had lost large pails of paint at the intersections of Railway Ave and Third Street, and Government Road and Highway 39.
Investigation revealed that a construction company from Regina was making deliveries in town and the pails of paint fell from the truck. City works was contacted to clean up the spills. Charges are pending.
Police were called to a motor vehicle accident at 12:12 a.m. on June 27 at the intersection of Coteau Ave. and 18th Street. The vehicles had to be towed from scene. Neither driver was injured, and the driver of one vehicle was charged with leaving a stop sign before safe.
On June 27, a female victim attended the police station to report that she was the victim of domestic abuse. Investigation resulted in her male partner being charged with assault and he will appear in court in July.
On June 27, police found a 45-year-old male from Yellow Grass performing an indecent act while in the parking lot of a business in the 100 block of First Street. The suspect was arrested and is now facing several charges and will appear in court later in July. Suspect was released on several conditions.
On June 28 police received a complaint of a vehicle traveling into Weyburn that had almost caused a head-on collision near the Nickle Lake turn off. Police were able to locate the vehicle in the 100 block of Highway 39. Investigation revealed that the accused was traveling west towards Weyburn and pulled out to pass a semi while he had a solid traffic line. As a result oncoming traffic had to stop to avoid a head-on collision. The accused then passed the oncoming traffic on the south shoulder. The accused is a 20-year-old male from Estevan and he has been charged with dangerous driving under the Criminal Code and will be making a court appearance later this month.
Police received a call of a man bleeding in the area of Seventh St. and Railway Ave. on June 28. Investigation revealed a male was riding his bike and carrying a bag with a can of paint. The rider lost control of his bike and wiped out hitting his head on the pavement. He was treated by ambulance personnel and went home with his family who were at the scene.
On June 29 at about 1 p.m., police received a complaint of a dog in a vehicle at a business on Sims Ave. Police located the owner and warned her of her actions.
Police received a complaint of a person abusing his dog in the 100 block of Laing Crescent on June 29. Police located the accused and arrested him for being drunk in public. The animal abuse complaint is still under investigation.
A business in the 10 block of Government Road contacted police in regards to damage done to the property during the night of June 29. Investigation found several vehicles were damaged by persons walking over them. Investigation is ongoing.
Police are investigating a theft from June 30. A female contacted police stating that her wallet had been taken from her hotel room. Investigation is ongoing.
On July 1st, at about 1:10 a.m., police were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of Railway Ave. A male was asked to leave the business but kept interfering with the patrons. Accused was arrested and charged with obstruction and will make a court appearance in July. While dealing with this complaint, a male started tampering with a police vehicle. Accused was arrested and charged with mischief. He will be making a court appearance later this month.
