Weyburn Police recover stolen licence plate

Weyburn Police received a report of a male leaving a service station without paying for fuel on September 21. Licence plates checks revealed the plate to be reported missing. Police found the vehicle and the 23-year-old male driver.

Police found the vehicle and the 23-year-old male driver. The man was charged with two counts of possession stolen property, theft of fuel, impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, driving while disqualified and Breach of Probation.

The stolen plate was returned to the rightful owner, and the vehicle was towed and stored for safe keeping. The man has been remanded and appeared in court September 24.

* Police are investigating an incident that occurred at the Weyburn Junior High school where the glass of the east door window was shattered. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Weyburn Police Service.

*Police received a report that a citizen's vehicle which had been parked at a business in the downtown area was entered and her purse and the contents were stolen. The matter is still under investigation.

On September 20, Police received a complaint from 911 that occupants of a vehicle were causing a disturbance. Police attended the central area of Weyburn and located a 23-year-old male in the driver seat of a vehicle along with a 19-year-old passenger.

The 23-year-old male was charged for refusing to provide a breath sample, impaired care and control of a motor vehicle, and for breaching his probation.. The 19-year-old passenger was also arrested and charged under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to report a motor vehicle accident after it was found that his truck had damaged a 43 year old female's fence. Court is set for later this month.

*Police received a report of theft of power tools from Westrum Lumber. Employees were able to recover tools from a male described as 5 ft. 8 in., 55-60 years old, with grey hair, moustache, and wearing a black jacket. The case is still under investigation.

*Police received a complaint of youth repeatedly impeding traffic by blocking the road 6-8 people wide. Matters have been brought to the attention of the schools and the situation continues to be monitored.

*Police attended a domestic dispute on September 18, between a 65-year-old female and a 21-year-old male in regard to a disagreement about entry to an unrelated residence and physical property belonging to the male, and custody matters of the 65-year-old female's grandchild. The situation was mediated and no charges resulted in this investigation.

*Police attended a domestic dispute between a 28-year-old female and a 31-year-old male in regard to parental issues. As a result, the female sustained injuries to her left side and the male was charged under the Criminal Code with assault causing bodily harm. Court is set for October 8, 2013.
