The Weyburn Quota Club made the difficult decision to not host the annual Quota International of Weyburn Women of the Year in 2021. (Shown above are the nominees from 2019.) It is a disappointment for the club members after a proud 20-year run of honouring exceptional women in the community.

“The club arrived at this decision after much discussion because of one foremost issue. It is extremely challenging to host the annual awards presentation luncheon under present provincial COVID guidelines. It is simply not possible,” said Kelly Hansen of the Quota Club.

This popular luncheon has always been a sold-out event as the community gathers to recognize and celebrate the nominees as well as hear an inspiring woman speaker who shares her journey to success and recognition.

As per the situation with COVID, Quota honoured their winners and nominees with the virtual presentation in 2020.

“We feel that we would like to stay with our traditional luncheon to give the in person experience and recognize our award nominees and winners with the luncheon,” said Hansen.

Does this mean the Women of the Year Awards are discontinued? No.

The club members feel there are so many worthy nominees in the community, and they plan to take this year off to update and rebrand the awards event.

Club members are open to suggestions from their sponsors and the community as to how they would like the future Weyburn Quota Club Women of the Year to be held.

The club’s plan is to host future Women of the Year events with a new fresher approach so that the whole community can once again be participants and enjoy.
