As a precautionary measure, the City of Weyburn has been on boil water advisory for drinking water since February 8. The advisory will remain in effect until upgrades are complete at the Water Treatment Plant.
As the Plant switches over to a new system, water readings may appear more cloudy than usual, so the drinking water advisory to all Weyburn Water Treatment Plant water users is an extra precaution to keep residents on the safe side.
The City performs tests on a regular basis during the day as well as sends samples to the Provincial Lab. All samples have been clean so far and the City does not anticipate any issues with the water.
Because public health is a top priority, the City is exercising due diligence in providing the public with advance warning of any potential risk. Although the City is very confident the water is safe, it is just an extra precaution until the new equipment has been in use and that regulations are met.
