The newly-elected members of Weyburn city council are spending the day Monday in a full-day orientation session.
In the photo, taken in the council chambers, are (left to right), Mel Van Betuw, John Corrigan, Mayor Marcel Roy, Jeff Richards, Laura Morrissette and Dick Michel. Councillors Corrigan and Morrissette are new to council, and new member Ryan Janke was not able to be in attendance.
At the far right is city manager Mathew Warren, and at the podium is Laura Missal, director of finances.
The orientation session will cover all areas of responsibility for city councillors, including their legal obligations, as well as procedures and policies.
The new city council will be sworn in at 5 p.m. in the council chambers. Protocols for COVID-19 will be observed, including limiting numbers and requiring everyone in attendance to be wearing a mask.
