Members of the extended Woodard family fill a flatbed trailer as a float in the Goodwater parade on Saturday afternoon. The photo on the end of the float at right shows the two Woodard farms south of Colgate, with many of their family members playing baseball in the Goodwater-Colgate and Weyburn areas for over 100 years. A monument was unveiled at the Goodwater baseball field, honouring the Woodard, Freeman and Berard families, who all played prominent roles in the baseball teams from the area over the years, with Art Berard, Earl Berard, Merv Freeman and Laurence Woodard all having been inducted to the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame, and in August, the Woodard family will be inducted.
