The Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop will provide an opportunity for the mayor or police chief to be pied in the face while raising funds for programs at the facility.

The event will be held in honour of International Pie Day on Tuesday, Jan. 23, with the Wor-Kin Shop’s Harvest Pie Company providing pies for the event. A list of 12 people has been provided and donors get votes according to how much money they are willing to fork over to see a person get a pie in the face.

The list includes Mayor Marcel Roy, Police Chief Marlo Pritchard, Fire Chief Simon Almond, Vicky Leas of the Welsh Kitchen, Dan Leas of the Welsh Kitchen, Andria Brady, executive director of the Wor-Kin Shop, Carol Leslie, program director for Wor-Kin Shop, Deborah Acton of Harvest Pie Company, Wor-Kin Shop board chair Lloyd Montgomery, Justin Epp from Prairie Sky Co-op, Yvonne Wagner of Maurer’s Meats and Christy Sanderson of Old Fashion Foods.

Votes are bought and are cast for the person’s choice to be pied, and the top three picks will be pied at 2 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the Wor-Kin Shop, located at 1800 Ebel Road.

Votes are one for $1, 10 for $5 or 25 for $10, and for the price of $50, you can be the one to deliver a pie in the face to the person of your choice from the list.

Tickets for this fundraiser are available at the participating businesses listed with the candidates for a pie in the face, or at the Wor-Kin Shop/Harvest Pie Company at 1800 Ebel Road.
