In response to numerous calls from the public, the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop is making accommodations to accept confidential shredding in a controlled procedure, starting on Thursday, April 23.
“As folks are staying home and finding time to do work around the house, we’re fielding a number of calls about our confidential shredding program,” said executive director Jeff Richards. “We decided that we could be of service by allowing the community to dispose of confidential personal shredding.”
The Wor-Kin Shop typically charges $7 for a 20 lb. box of shredding (generally referred to as a “Banker’s Box”), but as these are trying times, one free box of shredding per household is being allowed. Additional boxes will be charged the regular rate.
“The process of drop-off is simple, and more-or-less the opposite of how many retailers or doing curb-side pick-up,” explained Vocational Supervisor Ryan Rawn. “We ask that people call ahead to book a drop-off time with us, and we’ll have a clearly marked spot in front of our door for them. After they leave, we’ll bring the box inside and lock it in our secure shredding room for storage until we re-open and our shredding team is back to work.”
Arrangements for drop-off can be made by calling the Vocational Training Centre at 306-842-1600.
The Wor-Kin Shop would also like to remind everyone that the SARCAN Depot is closed. However, the donation bin is available to drop off recyclable beverage containers (proceeds from the donation bin are used for Wor-Kin Shop programming).
