Town Council met on Wednesday Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. Council has sold two more lots, one in a commercial subdivision and one in a residential subdivision. The mayor, Don Shirley, reported on the 2011 Saskatchewan health statistics.

Representatives from the Weyburn Comprehensive detailed information on a National Student Leadership Conference that will be hosted in Weyburn this September.

On Saturday December 17, 2011, at approximately 10:15 a.m., culprits broke into a residence in Weyburn and assaulted the homeowner. There was nothing taken or missing. It is unclear as to why the homeowner was assaulted.

Saskatchewan has recently experienced the second warmest December on record, the warmest Dec. having occurred in 1997. Temperatures this past December averaged about six degrees below Celsius, whereas the 1997 record seen an average temperature of 5.

The Carlyle Elementary School held its Spelling Bee on Tuesday, Jan. 10th in the school gymnasium.

G.F. Kells students rocked at a Much Music Video Dance on Friday night. There were huge screens, loud music, laser lights, smoke machines, contests, and lots of dancing.

Unfortunately for all those who enjoyed the coffee, food, and atmosphere of the Eight Words Café in Carlyle, it appears that the business will not be opening again.
