With the last days of school summer break winding down, Carlyle Golf Club drew 40 young golf enthusiasts to take part in a junior golf tournament.

The Diane Hanson Coaches Award was given to Weyburn Silver Seals Coach Claudia Lenferna on July 31. The award is in memory of Diane Hanson and is made possible by the Miller Family from Assiniboia.

The Weyburn Senior Beavers have been knocked out of the Western Major Baseball League's (WMBL) playoffs after losing in four games to the Regina Red Sox. The Beavers opened their playoff run in Regina, July 30 with a 8-5 loss.

Seventeen members of the Weyburn Silver Seals attended the SaskSwim Summer Swimming Provincials in Swift Current on July 31. Claudia Lenferna earned two gold and three silver medals in the over-18 female category.

The Weyburn Synchro Stars will be holding their annual "Come and try Synchro" summer camp from August 16 to 20 for all swimmers aged five years and up who are interested in the art and sport of synchronized swimming.

Roller derby may be coming to the Weyburn area. The Southeast Saskatchewan Roller Derby Association (SESRDA) will be holding a meeting on Monday, August 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Midale Rink.
