It is a challenging time for many local athletes right now, as recent COVID-19 restrictions have put a hold on games, and restrictions on the amount of people that can attend a practice or a workout.

A talented young athlete from Oxbow has committed to play volleyball at the university level.

The Carlyle U9 Cougars hit the ice to start their season the weekend of Nov. 21 and 22 and I’m sure I speak for many when I say I couldn’t be happier. The team took on the Alameda Rink Rats in a spirited home and home series.

The Carlyle Cougars got their first win of the season at home Friday when they beat the Kipling-Windthorst Oil Kings by a score of 7-3. Ben Johnstone, Jonny Gaudet and Dakota Rose combined for a total of 18 points on the night.

As written on the Saskatchewan Hockey Association Website : As many of you have heard, the Provincial Government/Ministry of Health have announced that all sport competition in Saskatchewan must cease as of 12:01 am, Friday November 27th.

Sports organizations have responded to Wednesday’s announcement by the Government of Saskatchewan that games for team sports will be suspended, starting Friday and continuing until at least Dec. 17.

With the announcement by the Saskatchewan Government and Saskatchewan Health, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League will not be playing any games after Friday at 12:01 am until after Christmas.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) announced its continued partnership with STARS air ambulance for another STARS/SJHL 50-50 lottery. The 50-50 will last through the remainder of the 2020-21 SJHL season.
