The U15 Weyburn Co-op Wings are challenging all Weyburn Minor Hockey Association teams to join them in their campaign “Hockey Fights Hunger” to raise cash and gift cards for the Weyburn Salvation Army Food Bank.

It was a challenging year for the Estevan Motor Speedway, but the racing organization still had highlights from its racing season and emerged in a solid fiscal position. The speedway held its annual general meeting on Nov. 15.

Special Olympics in Estevan has continued to make a difference for children in the region, teaching them how to enjoy sport while building other skills.

Offensive outbursts in the second period lifted the Estevan Bruins to a weekend sweep of the Weyburn Red Wings. The Bruins scored five times in an eight-minute span of the second period in a 7-0 romp of the Red Wings Friday night in Weyburn.

The Estevan Eclipse Downhole Solutions U18 AAA Bears lost 9-3 to the Notre Dame Hounds in the second half of a weekend home and home Sunday at Affinity Place. The two teams were scoreless until Notre Dame scored with 5:32 to play in the first period.

The Estevan Bruins had all of the offence they needed in a five-minute span of the second period in a 3-1 victory over the Weyburn Red Wings Saturday night at Affinity Place.

The Estevan Bruins scored five times in an eight-minute span of the second period in a 7-0 romp of the Weyburn Red Wings Friday night in Weyburn. Bruins captain Austin King-Cunninghm opened the scoring with 3 1/2 minutes to play in the first period.

The Carlyle Cougars headed to battle the Flyers last Saturday and although it wasn’t the outcome they were looking for, there were still some positives from the game.

Weyburn native son and offensive lineman Brett Jones of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL is the subject of a documentary that was just recently released, called " Uncharted North: I Am Brett Jones ".

Local children have been learning to curl through an annual program at the Power Dodge Curling Centre. Co-op Kids Curling is held every Sunday. Seven children from kindergarten to Grade 2 are on the ice at 1 p.m.
