By Greg Nikkel The Comp Eagles girls soccer team had one of their best-ever years together, making it to the provincial finals for high school soccer, and the team-work may have been due in part to the number of siblings playing with each other.

The Estevan Westmoreland Bruins were close in their pair of games on the weekend but weren't able to come through with a win.

Victories have been tough to come by in the early part of the season for the Estevan TS&M Bruins but Wednesday they gutted out a win in unfriendly territory.

The Power Tech Bear Cats kept on the attack Friday and as a result had a great game against the Notre Dame Hounds. The Bear Cats won 5-1 in South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League action Friday at Affinity Place, one of two games on the weekend.

The Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings hosted two games against the Battleford Sharks at Crescent Point Place on Saturday and Sunday. During the first game, held on Saturday night, the Gold Wings lost 9-0 to the Sharks.

During the summer, drivers and their pit crews at the Estevan Motor Speedway sweated for points and a picture with a trophy. Saturday night, it was all about the trophies and the stories.

Never let it be said that this year's edition of the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins lacks a flair for the dramatic. The team won a pair of shootouts in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action as they adjust to life with a pair of new players.

The Estevan Tier I atom Bruins were in a mood to celebrate Sunday afternoon. After a spirited 3-2 win over the Regina Tigers, the Bruins took the B side championship at centre ice at Affinity Place.
