For the first time since 1989, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will meet in the Grey Cup.

The Estevan Mermaids synchronized swimming team kicked off their season in Moose Jaw on the weekend, attending the Synchro Saskatchewan development camp and competing at the Marnie Eistetter Figure Meet on Saturday and Sunday.

In their first match of the season, the Weyburn Red Wings defeated the Estevan Bruins 4-1 on home ice November 11. The Remembrance Day game saw Ty McLean bank the first goal for the Wings from Brian Farkas and Josh Lees in the second period.

The Carlyle Cougars Atom coached by Brian Hagel earned their first win this season. On Saturday November 9th, Arcola Combines were in town for a regular season league game. The Cougars came out strong and dominated with a 15-2 win.

The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins snapped a seven-game point streak on Monday in Weyburn, losing 4-1 in their first meeting this season against the Red Wings.

After winning the Kelly Dmyterko Memorial Tournament in 2010 and 2011 and losing the A final last year, the Estevan Apex Bruins fell short of those heights this time around.

Had it not been for two last-minute goals, the Estevan PowerTech Panthers would have had three of four points on the weekend. Instead, they had to settle for one. The Weyburn Drillers scored with 0.

A nine-year streak is over for the Estevan Comprehensive School senior boys volleyball team.
