The Estevan TS&M Bruins earned a weekend split on the road, losing 6-3 to the Sask Valley Vipers on Saturday and beating the Humboldt Broncos 9-4 on Sunday.

A three-game road swing that began with promise ended with the CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins taking home three of six points on the table.

The Estevan Power Dodge Chargers picked up three victories on the weekend to wrap up first place in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League bantam A standings. The Chargers (18-3-4) have now won six straight and 14 of their last 15 games.

When sports fans think of great rivalries a few famous skirmishes come to mind. Yankees vs. Red Sox. Ali vs. Frazier. Roughriders vs Blue Bombers. However, in southeastern Saskatchewan one battle trumps them all. Weyburn vs. Estevan.

The Estevan Apex Bruins had already dug themselves a hole, and after 20 minutes of play on Friday the hole was too deep to see any daylight.

The Saskatchewan Hockey Association, Wascana Centre and Regina Men's Hockey Cougar Alumni will be hosting the second annual Prairie Pond Hockey Challenge. The event will be taking place on Saturday, February 11 on Wascana Lake.

Wade's Atom team enjoyed a good tournament this past weekend, losing 7-3 on Saturday morning to a tough Estevan team, but winning a great game on Sunday morning against Radville - a team they had lost to on two previous occasions.
