Let me start by saying this entire enterprise is predicated by one great big “if.” Huge if. CAPITAL LETTERS IF. As of mid-April, the big question is if, indeed, Saturn Minerals has found oil southwest of Hudson Bay, Sask., as they say they have.

Mother’s Day has just come and gone and, as usual, it has left me thinking about the power of relationships. Pick up any Mother’s Day card and you will find words like love, sacrifice, care, nurture and compassion.

I love a good theme night. I typically find that creating a theme for a date night elevates ordinary things into fun and whimsical things. Themes are quite simple to pull off and I always start with one foundation that I build everything else around.

The Calgary Roughnecks got past the Colorado Mammoth 11-10 in overtime in the National Lacrosse League playoffs. The game-winning goal came at 10:17 of overtime when Dane Dobbie put it home for Calgary. Colorado outshot the Roughnecks 67-58.

For me, it’s not always the case that two completely unrelated events occupy the same spot and importance at the same time, but that’s what happened recently.

The first truly big hockey event for Affinity Place is over. The venue, and the city as a whole, passed with flying colours. The Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup was an unquestioned success in most areas.

There are a handful of things that really put me on edge, and occupy my fleeting attention long enough to cause me to worry. Many of those relate to anything that may, in any way, imperil my car.
