He said It's an Olympic year, and while the Summer Olympics are what will reign supreme in 2012, we have decided to look ahead to the future of women's hockey in the winter program.

I am sure many are aware we had two nice new hotels build in Carlyle as they are pretty hard to miss when driving along hwy 9&13 through Carlyle. They are great additions to the community and I as a business person of 20 years welcome both.

The best and worst jobs for 2012 are out, and it doesn't look good for me or this area. Oil-rig worker was the worst job last year but is only fourth worst this year.

Important aspects of a 50-year-old's life usually involve a comfortable chair with a footrest, playing with the grandchildren, and maybe, for recreation, a little golf on the weekend. For others, it's semi-retirement.

For my column I thought about boring you all with historical information, such as: On this day in 1842, such and such happened. But I decided against it. I know the looks I get for simply saying that I have a history degree.

One hundred years ago, the people of Saskatchewan had reason to fear the onset of illness like tuberculosis, dysentery, and diphtheria. Advances in public health and water treatment systems have gone a long way toward eliminating those illnesses.
