WEYBURN – A dispute between two roommates turned violent on Sunday night, resulting in multiple weapon-related charges for both individuals.
The incident came to light when one of the men went to the Weyburn police station and reported an assault. But after further investigation, officers learned that both roommates had allegedly brandished knives during the altercation before one produced a metal baton.
Police charged both men with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. One of the individuals faces additional charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and failure to comply with a release order.
Neither sustained injuries in the confrontation. Following their arrest, they were both released with conditions, including a no-contact order with each other, and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
