Irma McGugan passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the age of 86. Irma's parents, Emmanuel and Emma Gueldner, immigrated from Russia in 1924. Irma was born in Weyburn on January 12, 1928; one of six children.

Melvin Archibald Joseph Nimegeers, late of Radville, passed away at the age of 80 with loved ones at his side Thursday, January 31, 2014 having battled cancer for the past few years.

There are only two days left before the special Valentine's Day Gala fundraiser for the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation. Residents are encouraged to attend the gala to raise awareness of the Hospital Foundation.

A traffic stop was conducted by the Weyburn Police Service as a result of a vehicle being operated without valid registration. It was subsequently determined that the driver also had a warrant for his arrest and was arrested.

Irene Nyhus passed away with family by her side on February 4, 2014 at the age of 94. Irene was born November 8,1919 at Hondo, AB, the ninth child of 12 born to Ralph and Anna Worthing. She married Ted Nyhus on August 11, 1938 at Hondo.

Jean Jones, late of Wetaskiwin, AB, formerly of Yellow Grass, passed away February 4, 2014, at the age of 97 years. Jean was predeceased by her parents Bill and Emma Johnstone; her husband Leo William Jones; several brothers and sisters.

The City of Weyburn has approved adopting the new District Plan, as submitted by the Weyburn and District Planning Commission, and a public hearing with both the city and RM councils will be held for the plan on Monday, Mar. 24 at 7 p.m.
