Weyburn Review

For the graduating class at the Weyburn Comprehensive, it was an emotional farewell during their final ceremonies on June 28 as they listened to the principal's message, tributes to the teachers and parents, and responses from both parties.

Flood waters still fill certain sections of River Park on Wednesday in the aftermath of the recent flood. River Park is expected to be closed for the remainder of the season, as water levels are still high in the park.

A Weyburn musician has hit the charts, as Amanda Jane Duncan's song "Lilacs" has been released on the radio. The song was featured on SaskMusic's 2011 compilation "In Tune". "It's very exciting.

People have begun to pick up the pieces from the recent flood that has ravaged many homes and businesses in and around Weyburn. Some people got off easy, with just some seepage in their basement or water in their yard, but others were not so lucky.

A series of colourful fireworks light up the skies over Weyburn on July 1, in celebration of Canada's 144th birthday as a nation.

Mailboxes have purpose once again. Postal workers were legislated back to work on June 26 with home delivery beginning on June 28. Post offices also reopened on June 28.

Weyburn is well into recovery mode, according to Mayor Debra Button. During the weekend, the City was able to shut down the Emergency Centre at the Fire Hall and the emergency shelter at Crescent Point Place.

Summer is officially here which means many individuals and families will be enjoying aquatic activities such as swimming and boating.

The Weyburn Li'l Red Devils under-12 girls' soccer team were gold medal winners at the Regina Challenge Cup Tournament on June 17, 18 and 19.
