The second annual Weyburn Campaign to End Duchenne will be taking place on May 14. The fundraiser is being organized by the Kerr family, which has four young boys living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in Weyburn.

Incoming University of Saskatchewan students and their parents living in Weyburn and area are invited to attend U-Start, a free two-hour program that will help them prepare for their academic future at the U of S.

Helping children is on the menu at Weyburn's McDonald's Restaurants this May. It's McHappy Day on Wednesday, May 11 and for every Big Mac, coffee or Happy Meal purchased, $1 will go to help The Family Place.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for week of April 18 to 24:*On April 24, police officers stopped a fight outside a local bar. A man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and charged under the local fighting bylaw.

A woman has been charges with arson for a house fire near Carlyle. On April 26 at 9:20 p.m. Carlyle RCMP and the Kipling Fire Department were called to a house fire on the Pheasant Rump First Nation.

Local dancers are coming together to stock food bank shelves. Marley's Dance Effex and De Tricky Feet Dance Studio will be hosting a benefit evening for the Salvation Army Food Bank on Thursday, May 5 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club is interested in gaining more players. That's why on Wednesday, May 4, a Fun Night will be held at the Wheatland Senior Centre with Bridge starting at 7 p.m.

The Red Coat Trail in River Park is inaccessible to anyone due to the high water levels of the Souris River. Most of the River Park campground is completely submerged but the water was at peak levels on Thursday or Friday.

The 2011 Canadian Cancer Society's Relay For Life was officially launched in Weyburn on April 27 with a "Launch Lunch" held at Knox Hall for residents, volunteers, and team and committee members.

Weyburn's own Nathan Walliser is once again bound for the Youth Bowling National Championships.
