Weyburn and area Motocross racers competed in the Canadian Motorsport Racing Corporation (CMRC) regional competition on May 9 in Kerrobert.

The Weyburn Fire Department has secured their new deputy fire chief. Evan Littlejohn from Richardson, Texas will be arriving in Saskatchewan on May 27. His first day on the job as deputy fire chief will be on May 31.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the period of May 3 to 10: *On May 9, two young males were charged for theft under $5,000. The boys were caught stealing lawn ornament lights from the front lawn of a residence.

"The worst kept secret in town" is finally out, according to Weyburn Mayor Debra Button. The City has officially announced the creation of a new eatery, popular restaurant-chain Boston Pizza, in Weyburn.

A regular meeting of the Weyburn City Council was held on May 10; here are the major points of interest: *Council is considering switching to an Automated Refuse Collection system in the New Year.

Weyburn resident George Gillies was recently awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Canadian Diabetes Association.

The Weyburn Comprehensive School held a scavenger hunt over the past few weeks, with 13 teams participating. Many of the items, including toilet paper, toothbrushes and children's books, were collected to donate to local charities.

SGI is giving "the world's greatest fans" the opportunity to display their Rider Pride on their vehicle by introducing an official Saskatchewan Roughrider licence plate.

Representatives from SCN Matters, a group that supports the work of the Saskatchewan Communications Network (SCN), was in Weyburn on May 8 to gain public support for SCN. The network was slated for closure in the March 24 provincial budget.

The Weyburn Police Service recently received a donation of $10,000 for a brand new Polaris RZR ATV from Cenovus Energy. The department plans to use the all-terrain vehicle to increase their visibility in the community and connect with youth.
